What is Spring2ACTion?

What if everyone in the city gave to our community on one day?

One City. One Day. One Opportunity.

On May 2, 2012, our community will come together for 24 hours of unprecedented giving! Spring 2ACTion is one extraordinary day to support the organizations that make Alexandria amazing! Nonprofits have the opportunity to win up to $30,000 in grants and prizes. Everyone can be a philanthropist. This is YOUR chance to make a real impact! It takes a community. Be Generous. Be Alexandria.

What is the goal?

The vision of Spring2ACTion is a community where every citizen contributes to benefit our Alexandria nonprofit organizations. There are three primary goals:

• Grow supporters – educate the community on the positive impact on their lives because of Alexandria's nonprofit organizations
• Grow philanthropy in Alexandria – bring new donors to our nonprofit organizations
• Grow revenue for nonprofit organizations serving Alexandria – create a new funding stream

How does it work?

Donors select the nonprofit they wish to contribute to on May 2, 2012. The Razoo Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization which permits donors to advise a re-granting of their donations to other IRS recognized qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations, will accept the gifts pursuant to an arrangement with ACT for Alexandria and will then re-grant the monies to the nonprofits selected by the donors. It is Razoo Foundation's normal practice to re-grant 97.1% of its contribution to the qualifying organization as advised by the donor, retaining 2.9% for Razoo Foundation's expenses (including credit card transaction costs).

Who is behind it?

Spring2ACTion is hosted by ACT for Alexandria and ACTion Alexandria. ACT is a community foundation seeking to raise the level and effectiveness of community engagement and giving for the benefit of all Alexandria. ACTion Alexandria connects neighbors and organizations to share ideas, take action and make an impact.

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?

Spring2ACTion passes on the cost of credit card transaction fees to the nonprofit organizations. This low, flat rate of 2.9% is subtracted from the nonprofit's check.

Is there a minimum donation?

The minimum donation on Spring2ACTion.Razoo.com is $10.

Is there a maximum donation?

There is no maximum donation limit on Spring2ACTion.Razoo.com.

Is there a limit to the amount an organization can receive on Spring2ACTion?

There is no maximum amount an organization may receive.

Can I donate to Spring2ACTion on my smart phone?

Yes! Simply type the url of your favorite nonprofit right into your phone, or scan a QR code offered by the nonprofit to make a donation on your phone.

Can I schedule a donation for Spring2ACTion?

Yes. To schedule a donation ahead of time, go to your nonprofit’s page (spring2action.razoo.com/_____). You will see a link on the green donation box on the right hand side to walk through the donation process now, but have the donation apply to Spring2ACTion on May 2nd.

Can I fundraise for my favorite nonprofit?

Yes! You can be a hero for the causes you care about. You can create a Fundraising Page for free by completing our simple form. Alternatively, you can visit the Organization Page of any nonprofit listed on Razoo and click “Fundraise” to start the page creation process. Please note that in order to create a Fundraising Page you will be prompted to sign into your Razoo user account, or create one if you don’t already have an account. Individual fundraisers also have the opportunity to win up to $5,000 for their favorite nonprofit.

Who is able to participate?

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations serving Alexandria are eligible to participate in Spring2ACTion.

Nonprofit's Roles:
To make the day a success for all nonprofit organizations, we are asking you to...

• Create a landing page for your organization using the Razoo platform.
• Broadcast the campaign's message using existing communication networks.
• Utilize Spring2ACTion logo and other provided images and messages consistent with the branding guidelines.
• Secure matching grants and prizes to entice donors to your group.
• Consider organizing an outreach event or community stunt to help further increase exposure for your organization.
• Think outside the box, be engaged and have fun!!

What are my organization's next steps?

• Register your nonprofit at Spring2ACTion.Razoo.com.
• Set up a page with Razoo. Training materials are included in the Nonprofit Toolkit.
• Decide how to contribute. Each organization is asked to use their network to market the event.

Is there a fee to participate?

There is no fee for an organization to participate in Spring2ACTion.

How can an organization receive donations?

If you are already listed on Razoo.com, you don't need to do anything except make sure your nonprofit's profile and page is updated and motivating (see our top 5 hints to create a great page).

If your nonprofit is not listed on Razoo when you do a search, please email Razoo, at np@razoo.com for more information on how you can get listed.

Do you have video tutorials that explain the site and how it works?

Yes. You can view all our videos on our YouTube channel.

How will an organization know who has
donated to them?

Organizations which have registered on Razoo can track donations in real time by logging-in to their Razoo account. Nonprofits can download a detailed donation report at any time through their account to thank and follow-up with individual donors and tabulate donation value and number of donors. This .csv file can be used in Excel and is widely compatible with other spreadsheet applications.

When will our organization receive
the monies contributed?

Normally, The Razoo Foundation will disburse monies on the 10th of the month following receipt of the advised donation. For the 2012 event monies will be disbursed by June 10th.

ACT for Alexandria can modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community. As such, ACT for Alexandria reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.
