Have you ever thought about how much you help the community when you help homeless animals? Spring 2 Action on April 9 and find out!
Have you ever wondered exactly how giving to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria really helps animals in the community? Well, let me tell you about little Rufus.
Rufus, a sweet three-month old, black Labrador mix was recently transferred to the League with his six brothers and sisters. The seven puppies had terrible skin infections and kennel cough, and were emaciated when they arrived. As the rest of the puppies began to recover, Rufus was still only about a third the size of his litter-mates and was not progressing at the same pace they were.
Our staff decided to separate Rufus and place him in a pen in one of the shelter offices to give him more individualized attention. As he grew, the staff realized Rufus’s front legs were not straight and it was more difficult for him to stand and walk normally as he got bigger. In partnership with a local vet hospital and made possible by donations, Rufus received special splints to straighten out his legs!
Rufus is on the mend thanks to the attention of our staff and special donations from special people like you. He is now getting stronger in a foster home, and his brothers and sisters are ready for adoption.
Now you know how giving really helps!
As we appeal to you for your help this spring, please remember that your gifts provide special care to animals like Rufus so that they can find their forever homes. Your support also helps us to educate the community about spaying and neutering animals to prevent pet overpopulation and improve the health of pets in our community.
Please consider a gift to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria so that we can continue to help animals in need and place them in loving homes.
Your gift to our Spring2ACTion fundraiser will improve the quality of life for our community’s animals. On behalf of the animals that your donations help every day, thank you! You are making a big difference!
