Let's Empower Women as Changemakers!
"To be successful and help other women, I first had to overcome my own fears. EWI helped me to become FEARLESS." - Yasmin
Make a tax-deductible scholarship to empower a woman and to impact the future of her children and family.
Scholarships help women go through EWI's workforce and entrepreneruship programs to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to launch and manage a business, secure employment, and lead change in their families and communities.
At program entry, 67% of the women are unemployed. 93 % are low-income with 73% living below the poverty line.
Half of the women are single mothers and 4% are single mothers with children with disabilities. 45% of the women served have also experienced mental health challenges.
The transformation is really powerful after women complete the 3-month or one-year program.
At program exit, 90% of the women start businesses, 95% complete business plans, 75% secure employment (9 months into the training), and 100% build confidence, leadership skills and give back by supporting other women and the community.
Scholarships from donors like you, changed the life of Yasmin, a young refugee woman of Somali parents, who came to EWI to get help and training to launch a photography business.
Coming to EWI has changed everything for Yasmin.
Within three months in EWI's entrepreneurship program, she landed a contract for a wedding and another for a retail photography assignment.
These jobs generated $4,000 - an income ten times more than what she made previously by working two part-time jobs.
This gave Yasmin incredible confidence and courage to keep moving forward.
She now supports her sisters to go to school, and plans to raise money with her photography for other refugee women like herself.
Gifts from generous friends like you make a difference and transform lives for women like Yasmin.
Your gift helps ensure that EWI has best skilled and trained staff and resources to provide quality training, mentoring and support services that change lives.
Thank you for everything.
Onward and Upward!
