A project of ACT FOR ALEXANDRIA
7 Continents, 50 States and 5 World Marathon Majors - marathon a month - raising awareness & money for 5 vital Alexandria-based charities.
I have always loved to run and have raced marathons for years. For most of those years it was all about me. Getting better, getting faster. Ironically, the better the runner I became, the less my running meant to me. So, I decided to make it ALL about someone else: the marginalized and needy children and families in my hometown of Alexandria, Virginia. Now I run to raise money for them — to help them get better and stronger — and running has never been so rewarding. Because if you can help, you should help. . . Explore this site to learn about the RunningBrooke Fund, find out where the next race is, and how you can be a part of it! Together, let's make the lives of children better.
I have committed to running a marathon on every continent, in each of the 50 states, and the five marathon majors (Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London and New York), a marathon a month, to raise awareness and to raise money for the at-risk children and families of Alexandria.
In 2010, RunningBrooke sponsored the following vital Alexandria and Arlington charities: Child and Family Network Centers, Community Lodgings, Girls on the Run (Northern Virginia), The Reading Connection and ACT for Alexandria.
2011's goal is ambitious, $50,000. You don't have to run but you can help by making a donation. Know that your FULL donation goes to those in need. I pay ALL travel costs and associated fees. And that your donation is 100% tax deductible.
